Gold Coast Seafood Delivery: Everything You Need to Know

Gold Coast Seafood Delivery: Everything You Need to Know
TL;DR — Tasman Star delivers fresh seafood across the Gold Coast on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday — order by 2 PM the day before, and it arrives chilled and ready to cook.
Delivery Days and Order Cutoffs
Tasman Star runs three delivery days each week: Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. The cutoff for each is 2 PM the day prior. Order by 2 PM Sunday for Monday delivery. Order by 2 PM Monday for Tuesday delivery. Order by 2 PM Thursday for Friday delivery.
Orders placed after the cutoff move to the next available day. If you miss the Thursday cutoff, your order will go out Monday. This is worth knowing before a long weekend — place your order earlier than you think you need to.
Delivery Coverage
The Gold Coast route covers Ormeau and Pimpama in the north through to Coolangatta and Tweed Heads in the south, including Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach, Burleigh Heads, Robina, Varsity Lakes, Palm Beach, Southport, Labrador, Nerang, Ashmore, Bundall, and Main Beach. A separate Northern Rivers route runs on Tuesday and Friday, covering Byron Bay, Ballina, Lennox Head, Lismore, Bangalow, and surrounding areas.
There is no minimum order. Free delivery thresholds apply by suburb — check the delivery areas page on the Tasman Star website for the threshold that applies to your address.
What Arrives Chilled vs Frozen
Fresh product — whole fish, fillets, prawns, oysters, and live or cooked crab — is packed fresh on the morning of delivery and arrives chilled at 0–4 degrees Celsius. It is not frozen in transit. Every order is packed in an insulated box with frozen gel packs. Delivery vehicles are temperature-controlled. The seafood arrives in the same condition it left the cool room.
Some products are available frozen by request, including bulk prawns and certain processed fish portions. If you are ordering for a freezer stock-up rather than immediate use, check the product listing — frozen items are labelled clearly in the online store.
How to Handle Delivery
Be home, or leave a secure cool spot with a note for the driver. A sealed foam box with a frozen brick inside is enough to hold temperature for two to three hours on a warm Gold Coast day. If you are regularly at work during delivery windows, a large insulated bag left at the door works well.
Transfer seafood to the fridge immediately when you get home. Fresh fillets and whole fish are best cooked within 24 to 48 hours. Whole live prawns last up to 48 hours. Oysters stored flat-side-up under a damp cloth keep for two to three days.
Online Ordering vs In-Store Pickup
Online ordering suits buyers who plan ahead and want their seafood waiting when they need it. The trade-off is the ordering cutoff — if you decide Tuesday night that you want fish Wednesday, online delivery will not help you. For same-day needs, the Labrador store at 5–7 Olsen Ave and the Varsity Lakes flagship at 20 Casua Dr are both open 7 AM to 6 PM, seven days a week.
In-store gives you the ability to see the day's catch, ask the team to fillet or scale to order, and pick up live mud crab or freshly shucked oysters that cannot be easily shipped. For entertaining, in-store pickup on a Thursday morning before a Friday BBQ is often the right call.
For weekly household orders, planned event catering, and Northern Rivers customers, delivery is the cleaner option.
