Groundwater 2026: Seafood Meals Around Your Weekend

Groundwater Country Music Festival takes place in Broadbeach from 16–18 October 2026. If you are making a weekend of it, organise meals around the performances you want to see and the kitchen you actually have. You do not need to spend the whole trip cooking to enjoy seafood at your accommodation.

The official festival information confirms the dates and describes the free live-music event. Check the organiser’s program for individual performances and arrangements.

Build the day around your chosen performances

Start with the acts your group most wants to see. Work out when you can eat without rushing, and whether everyone will return to the apartment together. A meal for four at a set time is easier to organise than a platter left out for people drifting in all afternoon.

If you are relying on public transport, use Translink’s Groundwater page to plan the journey. Leave seafood shopping for a separate trip when you can return directly to refrigeration.

Choose a meal that fits the room

Before arrival, ask whether your accommodation has a full fridge, a hob and a frying pan. “Kitchenette” can mean different things, and a small drinks fridge may not hold a group’s groceries.

With a working food fridge and a preparation area, cooked prawns and salad are simple. If you have a hob, prawn, tomato and spinach pasta gives you a complete meal without buying a long list of pantry ingredients.

For several couples sharing an apartment, agree on one meal organiser. It avoids three separate seafood purchases competing for the same fridge shelf.

Buy for the meal, not the entire weekend

It is tempting to shop once and be done. That works for bread, drinks and pantry items, but your seafood plan should reflect storage space and the advice supplied with the purchase.

Tell the fishmonger which day you intend to eat it and how you will cook it. If plans are uncertain, buy a smaller amount rather than an extra meal you may not get around to.

Our seafood transport guide covers the journey from the shop to your fridge.

Where Tasman Star fits into the trip

Tasman Star’s stores are in Labrador and Varsity Lakes; they are not festival stalls in Broadbeach. Check addresses and hours when choosing a shopping stop. For an accommodation delivery, check delivery coverage, the available date and how the building receives groceries.

Do not assume outside food or a cooler is permitted at a performance location. Keep accommodation meals separate from your event-entry plans and consult the organiser for current rules.

Make Sunday easy

If you are checking out, avoid leaving a new seafood purchase in the car while you enjoy the last day. Buy only when you can keep it chilled and take it directly home.

Browse the seafood shop once your meal and collection plan are settled. For other nearby event weekends, use our Gold Coast spring guide.
