Labrador Seafood: Shopping or a Cooked Takeaway Meal?

At Tasman Star Labrador, shopping for seafood to prepare at home and ordering from the kitchen are different plans with different hours. Decide which meal you want before setting off, especially if you are fitting the visit around a Gold Coast show or a family outing.

The contact page currently lists the Labrador fresh seafood counter as open 7 am–6 pm daily and the kitchen as open 10 am–4 pm daily. Check that page for updates before travelling, including any special trading arrangements.

When shopping for home makes sense

Choose fresh or prepared seafood from the retail range when you have a place to refrigerate it and time to cook or serve it. This suits an apartment dinner, a family barbecue or a meal with friends.

Come with a cooking method in mind. Saying “four portions for fish parcels” gives the team more useful information than asking for “some fish”. Let them know if you need help choosing a product form.

Our fish parcels recipe and prawn skewers recipe give you concrete ingredient lists to work from.

When the kitchen is the easier choice

If you want a cooked meal during the day and do not have kitchen access, look at the current menu and check the kitchen hours. Product availability, preparation and waiting times should be confirmed at the store.

The retail counter staying open later does not mean the kitchen is still cooking. Arriving near closing also does not guarantee that every menu item remains available.

If you are organising food for several people, contact the store in advance about what is practical. Do not assume a blog article is confirmation of a large-order service or reservation.

Cooked does not always mean hot takeaway

Cooked prawns from a chilled retail display are different from a hot meal prepared by the kitchen. They still need suitable chilled storage and transport.

Ask whether the product is ready to eat, needs reheating or requires cooking. Follow the instructions for the particular item instead of making assumptions based on the word “prepared”.

Our seafood transport guide explains the cold journey home.

Plan the next stop honestly

If you are buying chilled seafood, make the trip home or to your accommodation the next stop. If you are ordering a meal to eat promptly, plan where you will eat and follow any rules at that location.

For event weekends, check current traffic and venue information separately. Labrador is a store location, not a claim that Tasman Star operates inside every nearby festival.

Find the right store

The Labrador store is at 5–7 Olsen Avenue. Tasman Star also has a Varsity Lakes store at 20 Casua Drive. Use the contact page for directions, phone numbers and each store’s details; do not assume kitchen offerings are identical at both locations.

Browse the retail seafood range or view the menu according to the meal you have planned.
